The Building Permits & Codes Inspection department is responsible for:
Mission Hills City Zoning Regulations require that a building permit be issued for most renovation and construction work in the City. Exceptions include minor repairs or purely cosmetic updates such as painting and wallpapering. A building permit is required for projects such as:
In addition, the Architectural Review Board must approve any exterior alterations to your home or property before a permit can be issued.
The Professional Review Panel reviews Substantial Construction projects (except pools and sport courts) and makes a staff recommendation to the ARB on whether the project should be approved, approved with stipulations, or denied.
The Building Permits & Codes Inspection department is responsible for:
- Receiving and reviewing building plans and permit applications;
- Answering building code-related questions;
- Conducting inspections during the various stages of construction and remodeling;
