The City’s major capital project for 2026 is getting underway. This project includes street and stormwater improvements on Belinder Road from Tomahawk south to 71st Street, a portion of 68th Street west of Belinder, behind the three homes on the south side of 69th Street just west of Belinder and on 70th Terrace from Belinder to Overhill. There will be major stormwater upgrades as well as replacements of the roadway, sidewalks, curbs and driveway approaches (as needed).
The project will take most of the year. From now through April, Kansas Gas, WaterOne and telecom/cable companies will be making improvements to their infrastructure. The City’s project will begin in April. The City shares its 5-year capital improvement plan with the utility companies so that they can make improvements in partnership with City projects to try and minimize disruption to property owners as much as possible.
